Artist performer and producer Martin Fontaine is the creator and stars in this spectacular musical journey
“ Martin Fontaine Showman, Rockin’ American Soul “
Born in Montreal Canada in 1964 and was the eldest of 3 boys raised with love and affection and had all the possibilities ahead of him. It is at the age of 15 that Fontaine found out what he was really meant to do with his life; touch as many people around the world as possible with his artistic creations, generating and sharing true moments of joy, hope and happiness with unique and original artistic concepts of all kinds, develop his talent and abilities to fulfill all his dreams and someday, communicate his passion to others, make a difference and maybe, become an inspiration for everyone.
He started out with music, practicing cello, saxophone, piano, guitar and drums and finally discovered his voice, played with it, exploring many different styles of music such as; Rock’n Roll, Rock, Pop, Blues, Soul and Funk. Covering and learning from and about all the greatest artists in popular music.
One of his first revelation was discovering the Beatles. He formed his own band; “The Wheels” with one of his brothers in early 1980 and got the foolish ambition of someday replacing John Lennon who had been shot later that year. Martin always says that The Beatles thought him everything; from how to create a song, sing harmonies, all the guitar chords, the arrangements, the recordings and even how to express himself in English. He then got fascinated by Rock’n Roll and decided to study everything about that music and its founders.
He toured with many different bands as their lead singer, playing every style in clubs and festivals all over Quebec, and, with the tio “Red”, named after his nickname, he developed all his skills as an energetic entertainer, became more and more well-known, popular and recognized for his stamina on stage.
In the late 80’s, he also played in musical revues in which they paid tribute and gave few impressions of all the great celebrities in pop music.
Then, about 9 years later, Martin received a phone call that would change his life forever. Some show producers were looking for the soul of Elvis Presley, an actor, singer performer that could play the role of the King of Rock’n Roll in a musical. Martin passed the audition with over 40 other candidates and got the part. He had to go through a hallucinating transformation using wigs and make-up every night to create a remarkable illusion. His rendition of the portrayal of the King was so incredible that the show “The Elvis Story” became the best selling musical show in the history of Quebec. He performed 1500 shows in 12 years in many great cities all over the world; Toronto, Biloxi, Paris, Tokyo, Osaka, Shanghaï, Beijing, Montreal and Quebec City at Le Capitole de Québec where it was resident. He never cancelled a show and had no understudy or substitute.
Acclaimed worldwide by more than 1,600,000 spectators, Martin became the art director in 2001 then, production consultant and co-producer of contents since 2005. That show was the only stage performance production show licenced by Elvis Presley Enterprises inc.
As an entrepreneur, Martin founded Spectrek Productions inc. in 2005 and decided with his team to produce their first Stage show creation;
“ Martin Fontaine Showman, Rockin’ American Soul”
That’s been presented and acclaimed by audiences and critics at Le Casino de Montréal and Casino du Lac Leamy in fall 2006. They are now ready to take this show out on the road and around the world…
With his team at Spectrek, Martin also produced his first solo album “Sunny” as an introduction for the new sound and style he is going to explore for the years to come…his own brand of Rock’n Soul…Funk’n Roll…that he hopes, will touch the hearts of his fans…get them to move and to groove…
He has now written and composed new original material of his own for futur albums that he will produce with Spectrek in the years to come and also produce and help new young artists to develop their art.
Martin Fontaine along with his team at Spectrek Productions have a lot of work ahead of them in a near future with countless artistic concepts and projects in creation on their desks…We can all be certain that, as their dreams fulfill, many people on this earth will be touched by one or another of Martin’s creation.
Après 12 ans de succès et plus d'un million de spectateurs à travers le
monde grâce à sa magistrale interprétation du King dans Elvis Story, Martin Fontaine sort, sous son vrai nom, un premier disque intitulé Sunny. Cet opus se veut une rétrospective des chansons soul américaines qui ont marqué le paysage musical de Fontaine et de son spectacle Showman. Fontaine en est déjà à vous préparer un 2ième album, francophone, à saveurs "urban-à gogo-funk" qui verra le jour très bientôt. Une biographie sur son incursion dans la vie d'Elvis Presley ainsi qu'un film de Denis Héroux dont il sera le personnage principal sont présentement en chantier.
