Mariachi Sol de Mexico was founded in 1981 by Maestro Jose Hernandez with the idea of making it a crossover ensemble. That in itself caught the attention of great artist like: George Harrison, Luis Miguel, Juan Gabriel, Vikki Carr, Willie Nelson, the Beach Boys and Jose Feliciano to name a few. Because of his vision Mariachi Sol de Mexico became the only mariachi ever to get a nomination for the 2001 Latin Grammys as well as the 2007 Grammy's (American).
