Mariachi Los Camperos is celebrating over 45 years of existence along with a historical Grammy nomination, Best Mexican American Album, for their recording appropriately titled, Llegaron Los Camperos going up against one of Mexicos greatest entertainers. For those of our friends who do not know the legend that is Mariachi Los Camperos, they owe their reputation to a man who is a legend in himself, Natividad Cano. Nati Cano, who is probably the pioneer of Mariachi music in the United States, has been recognized worldwide for his many accomplishments. However, two are very close to his heart, the National Heritage Fellowship of the National Endowment for the Arts which is, the highest honor the United States government offers to private citizens in the field of traditional arts and the Silvestre Vargas Award in Mexico.
