Many Men Have Tried

Of our country and families we have little to say. Ill usage, adversity and length of years have driven us from one and estranged us from the other. By what miracle we escaped destruction, it is impossible to say. In the dull, dark and soundless december of 2003, five of us were at the bottom of one of these abysses, where the decision was made that, through sound and motion, brittled bones must be shattered.
