SHUT EYE RECORDS REVIEW

"A Mate's A Mate, But A Bird's Just A Bird" is just an awesome rock and roll song. It really helps people to remember to stay rooted in where it all began. The title alone goes along with a saying that we have in the U.S. Bros before Hoes", but your title is much more eloquent. A great mix of Brit-Pop with a hint of Punk, this song couldn't be any more perfect for college radio.

"Pseudo Halo" got my attention immediately. First of all it was so different from the previous track I was honestly suprised. It really shows your overall diversity of a musician and you do both equally well. This song has a cool, slightly country twist on good old surf rock and with such a completely original sound, it will be hard to ignore.

Grab the old-skool VCR and stick in a classic recorded off-the-TV copy of 'Grease'. Dig Out Your T-Birds jacket's and the Pink Lady dresses, stick on some swinging vinyl and live life to the full as if you were part of the Happy Days Crew!

Summertime is the time of the year for chilling out and having the best days of your life. But this year you can forget John Travolta and Olivia Newton John because MALF has the perfect solution to the retro 50's feel good tunes with a summer soundtrack, packed full of pretty girls, hip guys and lots and lots of sun!

Malf will be more familiar to local music fans as Dave Palfreyman, who trod the boards with Chesterfield rockers Pearl Harbor. In His latest guise, he's come up with elongated song titles you'd expect only from The Buzzcocks, mixing the familiar sounds of The Beatles with more modern Bon Jovi elements.

Together with his new band, he's produced an EP of songs that contains an indefinite mix of genres and up-to-date originality that most bands couldn't manage in a lifetime.

Sounding like a dubbed-up 'Summer Nights', 'Got To Be Seen To Be Believed' is the perfect summertime tune, conjuring up the sounds and smells of hot afternoons and memories of drinking cider in the park after curfew.

Taking the time to think about life, 'A Mate's A Mate, But A Bird's Just A Bird' throws hopelessly-devoted emotion into the mix and serves up the perfect song for the summertime blues.

Entwined in the creative blend is the country-twanged, guns at sundown 'Pseudo Halo', while the rock n' roll influence comes through in 'This Goodness Burns To Bright', a fusion of seedy accoustic guitars and soaring electric solos.

Malf is not a one-trick pony, and this EP blurs the gap between genres to create the sounds of a new generation
