Singer songwriter 'Makio' was originally born in Nairobi, Kenya, on the east of coast of Africa. When he was still an infant, he moved with his mother to the U.S after his parents separated and settled in Baltimore, Maryland where he spent most of his early childhood. Growing up with a single mother and soon to be little brother, Makio became accustomed to moving around the East Coast and overseas to help his mother make ends meet. Fortunately, Makio found the time to appreciate music, inspired but the likes of Michael Jackson, Prince and Stevie Wonder. When Makio settled in Massachusetts, his mother, having already realized his talents for dance and music at an early age, put him in multiple dance and fitness classes before he even learned the power of his voice. Honing his skills as a stage performer as he matured in production plays and state choirs, his dreams of stardom grew.
After his senior year of highschool, Makio realized that music was his only ambition and spent the following summer at Berklee College of Music, sharpening his writing skills, and learning the technical aspects of creating music. Makio eventually joined a 4-part harmony group looking for a fifth member called Propheci. Propheci, who mirrored themselves after Boyz II Men, hit the pavement performing at block parties, fashions shows, and youth summits throughout Boston. At the end of the summer, the group split, going in different musical directions. Motivated by his experience, Makio decided to defer his full scholarship to college for a year and focus solely on his music.
In 2005, Makio linked with Surefire Music Group(www.surefiremusicgroup.com) and embarked on his most prominent journey yet. Having worked with such artists to date as Q Parker(112), Tony Sunshine(Terror Squad), and Serius Jones(DTP), Makio is quickly building a name for himself throughout the industry. The past few years have proven success for the 21 - year old musician. In 2006, the song "Can I Come Over" attracted the attention of singer/songwriter Ryan Leslie and led 112's Q Parker to Boston to work with the young R&B star. His Boston anthem entitled "Lets Go" featuring fellow Surefire recording artist - Versatyle(www.myspace.com/versemuzik) has had over 80,000 downloads from multiple internet vendors. Makio's clear melodic vocals, guitar skills, and stunning dance choreography have created a huge buzz for him throughout New England. This buzz landed him a casting role on MTV's "Making the band 4". After the show aired in June 2007, his recognition and fan base spread worldwide. Constantly in the studio side by side Leroi and the Surefire production team, his song library coninues to grow. While also tightening his guitar skills, sharpening his dance abilities, and polishing his vocals, Makio is gearing up for a life long career in music.
