Reggae/dancehall artist Major Chris is filled with talent. The talented toaster's love for the music business developed from a very early age. He actually has musical genes running in his family. His cousin is the legendary reggae music ambassador, Jimmy Cliff.
Born Gyad Ferguson, Major Chris is originally from Montego-Bay St. James, Jamaica.
He attended the Montego-Bay comprehensive high school where he studied Electrical installation. After high school he attended Mr. Lemmy's art academy where he learned how to make professional art paintings. Throughout his childhood he made his mark on numerous local stage shows and events in and around his community. He was also a selector for two sound systems and the lead dancer of a dancing group in his community.
At age twenty Major Chris migrated to the US where he settled in Philadelphia for a while. he immediately began to hone his craft at different night clubs in Philadelphia and New York with his strong lyrical content and engaging style of presentation. He linked up with Neville Palmer of Nap Musiq Productions who coached him for three years. Palmer was his manager and main producer for that period. Major Chris made his recording debut with the song titled Hot Gal Anthem for Nap Musiq Productions in 2004. Followed by Mamma Used To Say (originally recorded by Junior), featuring American R & B singer Tanzania, Cant Stop Me, All Eyes On You, and many more tracks.

Major Chris has worked with producers such as; Preston, Chester, Jam-two, Ice, Super Hype, Robert Bogle, Danger Zone, and many more. He is inspired by the likes of the late reggae icons Bob Marley and Peter Tosh, Jimmy Cliff, Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, Buju Banton and most of all his mother Jennifer Jackson-Ferguson. Major Chris advises the youths to believe in themselves, be positive, conquer their dreams, and above all things, put God first.
