“The commercial globalization might seem to have disastrous consequences for the multiplicity, but in Lysdal’s music it removes borders”. GDM Aktiv (Germany)

"The strange thing is that the voice, nevertheless, remains the same, born by the same discreet tone, combining sadness and longing which make its attentiveness all the more urgent and creates an intimacy which goes deep into the heart". POLITIKEN (DENMARK)

When Jens Lysdal released his laidback debut-CD ”A matter of time”, the press responded like this:

»A melodic miracle”

"These songs make it abundantly clear that Jens Lysdal is eminently up to American cult figures in songwriting like Paul Simon and Randy Newman".

»Here's a musician with a shining personality - a musician and songwriter with roots and culture«»Lysdal catapults himself up into the first team of Danish songwriters “

“He plays the guitar like the truly great ones”»Danish rock has a new star “

11 years and some albums later, the release of “IT'S ALMOST LOVE" still shows an uncompromising artist with full integrity - one who follows his own paths without any interest for trends.

GDM MUSIK MAGAZIN (GERMANY) :

"These songs make it abundantly clear that Jens Lysdal is eminently up to American cult figures in songwriting like Paul Simon and Randy Newman".

WORLD OF MUSIC (GERMANY)

"Suddenly the goosepimpels are there ! Furtively sneaking in on you, from the ear to the stomach, past the heart into the brain, whispering

here we are. Jens Lysdal from Denmark prefers the laid-back style. He leaves his gravelly voice enough time to let its something develop. And he plays the guitar like the truly great ones;uses graces sparingly, avoiding smart tricks, accurate and to the point with a wonderfully rounded tone. Lysdal has the blues, knows the jazz and likes the swing.

At one time it goes Latin-American, then turns to pop but never without a specific purpose. Lysdal is both Tuck & Patti, wrapped up in the sound of his thick jazzguitar and his marvellous voice. Vaya Con Dios for the men, Paul Simon for the women, Barjazz for an evening at home Lysdal is all this".

"THE PLANET" RADIO NATIONAL (AUSTRALIA);

"Today's featured album is Danish, delightful & quite unexpected. That Denmark is home to a fine singer, songwriter & deft guitarist is no shock; the big surprise is that JENS LYSDAL is so utterly convincing in English. He doesn't run away from his ancestry (there are non-English numbers), but his own songs are much more akin to those of a Randy Newman or a Lyle Lovett. The lyrics are sly, wry, shrewdly compassionate, & beautifully crafted, as are his arrangements.

KOREAN TIMES:

"Maybe its a sign that this is a big old global village after all, but Lysdal has made a real contribution to the American roots-rock tradition that includes Hiatt, Ry Cooder and the Blasters.

Throughout, its Lysdals guitar playing that anchors the album, whether its the jangly electric picking on "Easy Mind", or the loping acoustic on "Still Water", a beautiful instrumental that brings to mind the great outdoors of Copenhagen or Cheyenne, Wyoming. "A Matter of Time" is an album whose time has come".

HI-FI MAGAZINE (SWEDEN)

"The material exceeds his first CD, which I in fact didn't think was possiblelisten to this CD and enjoy".

POLITIKEN (DENMARK): "The strange thing is that the voice, nevertheless, remains the same, borne by the same discreet tone, combining sadness and longing which make its attentiveness all the more urgent and creates an intimacy which goes deep into the heart".

EKSTRA BLADET (DENMARK)

"A master piece ! A wonderfully swinging low-keyed record"
