L'dia is one of the few female (funk) bassplayers in the world, and she is an excellent

She grew up in a musical family and has learned all things music from a young age.
In 1995 she released her solo CD "Hop-'o-my-thumb" under the name Suleika with all
her own songs. She played gigs anywhere and everywhere, in addition to her job as an
elementary school teacher.
In 2007, just for fun L'dia posted a few movies on YouTube titled "Lydia on bass" and
received worldwide attention. Currently the "views" counter is at a million! Even artists
like Marcus Miller and Eric Benet posted comments. She still receives offers from all
over the world.
Every now and again L'dia plays with Candy Dulfer, David Haynes (drummer for Chaka
Khan & Prince), Trijntje Oosterhuis, Berget Lewis, Julya Lo'ko, Toots Thielemans, and
she has a great deal with Fender bass-guitars. She is the only bassplayer in Europe
with this unique deal. She hold clinics all over Europe and last year she played for
Fender at the world's biggest Music Trade Show the Frankfurter Musik Messe. Trade
Show attendees don't normally dance but L'dia's music got the party started real quick.
She has turned her hobby in to a living, resigned her teaching job and moved to the
West. She toured through the Netherlands as bassplayer/singer of the musicals "Turks
Fruit" and "Hair".
Currently she is touring with the caberet duo "Veldhuis en Kemper".
L'dia also plays bass and sings in the most energetic band in the Netherlands: "Girls
Behind The Scene", a project of her partner and producer Dillon Lewis.
Musicians that have inspired L'dia include Marcus Miller, Michael Jackson, Larry
Graham, Bootsy Collins, Mark King, Pino Palladino, Cameo etc. L'dia tought herself how to play
bass by being inspired by the music ofthe artists mentioned above.
L'dia's singing is inspired by Chaka Khan, Eric Benet, Frank McComb, Rachelle
Farrelle, Steve Wonder and more.
L'dia's new CD "Plonkay!" was released April 1st, 2010 and is getting worldwide
attention, even Bootsy Collins sended her a mail with compliments!
