DJ L-SMOOTH

It almost seems like DJ L-SMOOTH and hip-hop have had a perfectly synchronized arrangement from the beginning. In what could be interpreted as a major sign of what was to come, Smooth entered this world on January 6, 1980, while the buzz about an innovative new sound called rap music was just starting to spread. To top it all off, he shares his birthplace with the culture itself, having been born and raised in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan in New York City.



Most lovers of music can remember that fateful moment where they realized that they were going to be “hooked for life”. For Smooth, this came at age 5 in an impromptu music lesson that he received from his dad while in the backseat of his car. Smooth was fascinated by what he learned that afternoon, a basic key to Latin rhythm called “la clave”, and he began to apply it to each and every rhythm that fell within his earshot from that day onward.



Over the last several years Smooth has concentrated on spinning at some of the hottest and most popular clubs that one of the hottest and most popular club cities in the world has to offer. As South Beach has continued to become hip hop’s unofficial getaway mecca, Smooth has been busy honing his skills at locales such as Opium, Mansion, Amika, SoBe, Pearl and Nikki Beach, just to name a few. This follows his stints and appearances outside the state, in locations such as Tribecca and Fox’s in New Jersey, the renowned Mirage in New York City, and is the co- host/ resident DJ for The Roof on Mun2. L-Smooth is also climbing the mix-tape ladder by producing up to 3 CD's a month for featured artists. With a reputation that is rapidly preceding him, his demand increases almost weekly. Adding to his lengthy resume L-Smooth has recently been signed as the official DJ for Madface Records, also making him



the official DJ & group member of Fusion.



For the last 12 years, starting with a basic DJ set and a great deal of drive, Smooth has slowly but surely established himself in the music industry by exploring all aspects of it. Whether it is promoting, hosting, producing or simply doing what he loves best, spinning, he continues to pave the way for success.
