LOST IN A NAME
These days it is near impossible for a young band to stand out in the over-crowded sea of homogenized rock n' roll cliches by simply making good rock music. It gets lost in the shuffle where almost every other new act is a parody of themselves, unabashedly aping their near immediate predecessors without even the slightest hint at an understanding of their current place in rock n' roll's great history. Some bands try and overcompensate for their glaring unoriginality and lack of musical personality by attempting to stick out with flashy musicianship, the right look, the right producer, or the current "it" sound.
.Lost In A Name believe that although there are some universally fundamental ideals that are essential to a good rock band's formula, those aren't what make a band. Mostly, it's the right four guys finding each other and coming together to make the music that they love in the most genuine way they can, despite the looming masses of soulless, sound-alike bands attempting a similar feat, minus the heart. And, as anyone who's attempted starting a band knows, finding those four people who have that heart and passion for music and are equally motivated to make it their full time life is a truly daunting task, even in a fairly large city such as Milwaukee, WI. Throw in the fact that Danny Schmitz, Bryce Schmidtke, Steve Lee and Jeffro Lackscheide, four guys who share the same off-the-wall, smirking sense of humor also have a propensity for writing some of the most intensely catchy rock songs since Van Halen was cool, and you have something worth noticing. And yet, it's just four musicians who love their craft, love their songs, and love entertaining a crowd. as evident to anyone who's seen the slightly over the top way they interact onstage.

Boasting heavy, guitar driven power-pop that deftly straddles the line between taking itself too seriously and trying to get you to smile, Lost In A Name's debut full length Remember Where We Started carefully weaves catchy, memorable vocals and big melodies with technical and innovative guitar riffs offering up that rare blend of musicianship and radio worthy hooks that you'll find yourself singing along to, even after just a listen or two. Fans of everything from Coheed and Cambria and Thrice, to The All American Rejects and Foo Fighters find themselves showing up and belting out lyrics as if they were words pulled from their own diaries.
Guitarist/frontman Danny Schmitz has been writing music and perfecting his guitar acrobatics since childhood and it shows in his ability to bend his instrument to his will. His songwriting chops have also evidently come into their own as exemplified on Remember Where We Started. Bassist Bryce Schmidtke and award winning drummer Steve Lee, two experienced veterans of the Milwaukee music scene round out the band's tough as nails rhythm section while seasoned record producer (and band newcomer) Jeffro Lacksheide provides the harmony to Danny's intricate guitar melodies.
From the riff-heavy intensity of the disc's opener "Crutch" to the oh so sweet, tongue in cheek honesty of the destined-for-radio track "Valentine", these guys have shown that they can bring it with both musicality, humor and genuine honesty. Lost In A Name is a name that you won't soon lose track of (pun!) and you can bank on hearing it again in the near future as this band will absolutely emerge from that over-crowded sea, guitars in hand, grinning ear to ear, making metal fingers. and probably getting you to do it right along with them.
