Happy accidents.that about sums up the Lostep story quite well. Its almost an ethos which runs deep between these 2.from becoming a "band", to their musical approach its all about those happy accidents.

Luke and Phil are in their own right succesful djs and producers. They have mixed albums and released records for some of the biggest labels in the world and have individually and together graced the decks at some of the biggest clubs all over the world. They continue to tour relentlessly. 2005 saw them both live outta suitcases for about 9 months and 2006 doesnt look far off that!

Working under the guise of "dark alley' with Ivan Gough is where they began their now legendary silly studio sessions mostly at the expense of poor Ivan who would laugh along but there was no stopping the clowning.

A story these 2 remember fondly is how after working in "studios" for a long time, a purchase of a lounge room computer and a few "happy accidents" between ad breaks on the telly they had come up with the single "the roots" which featured vocalist Lior Attar and featured on "Dave Seamans GU Melbourne" CD compilation then was quickly snapped up by Global Underground as a single. As Phil explains "Dave came over to listen to some tunes at mine and we were on the decks in the loungeroom.he asked if i has anything to play him of mine and i thought why not play that track we been muckin around with on the PC."

The next single "Burma" was another "happy accident" which came together again in the loungeroom at Phils in one blessed evening.Luke continues "we sent the track to Sasha and he went absolutely crazy.we promised him he could have it for his next compilation album which didnt happen for another year so we had to sit tight" That album was the future classic "Involver" where the original got an overhaul from the "man like" himself.

April 2006 sees the release of their first long player 'because we can' on Global Undeground.

Phil- "it took like 2 years and 3 studio spaces to complete.when we get in the studio we like to make it all up theretogether.the experience of writing music with someone should be like that we believe.we dont want to go and make pieces individually as it defeats the purpose of being a "band".you have to live it together and u have to experience that joy of creating it.we are great friends and we share great memories of our creations.thats whats so fun about it.evrything that goes with the creating experience becomes a great memory which ties us closer together as friends"

Luke-" we experimented a hell of alot.we listened to so much other great music from a very divesrse range of artists.we tried some 'concept" tracks and obviously we had to make music that would work on the dancefloor.we think this album works as a dream sequence not as a DJ mix and that is what we wanted"

Phil-"we all fall into the trap of thinking that music has to be this and has to be that.all it has to do is make you feel something and its job has been done. Music is all around us and sometimes we dont even recognise it as music.we hope that this album will make people listen to music differently.'
