Samuel Chan's Bio
A native of Hong Kong, Samuel Chan is a promising young percussionist who has received top prizes in both Hong Kong and international competitions, including the Percussive Arts Society International Solo Percussion Competition, Great Plains International Marimba Competition, Spivack Vibraphone Competition, Ima Hogg Competition, and the Hong Kong Young Musician of the Year Competition. He has appeared as marimba and percussion soloist with the Houston Symphony, Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Hong Kong Young Musicians’ Wind Orchestra, New England Conservatory Chamber Orchestra and HKAPA Symphony Orchestra. He has given solo performances and recitals at the Lincoln Center’s Focus! Festival, the Kennedy Center, Jordan Hall, and Percussive Arts Society International Convention. He was recently invited to present a guest clinic and recital at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music in March 2016.
Mr. Chan is currently attending the Juilliard School in New York to pursue a Master of Music degree, under the tutelage of Dan Druckman.
