Local Sound Style

2004年、青森県弘前市出身の4人が上京先の東京で再会を果たし結成されたLOCALSOUND STYLE。2007年4月にリリースされた1stアルバム「Doing It For The Kids」で(The Get Up Kidsを育て上げたエド・ローズがプロデュースを担当)、シーンから熱い視線を注がれるようになった彼らは、その後もBIGMAMA、GLORY HILL、the HIATUS、NORTHERN19、OCEANLANE、TOTALFAT等のツアー・サポートや、ARABAKI ROCK FESTIVAL出演等、精力的なライブ活動を続け、更なる知名度を獲得。2009年10月、バンドとしてネクスト・ステージへ辿り着いたことを証明する、煌びやかな楽曲が顔を揃えた2ndアルバム「HOPE」で、一躍トップ・バンドの仲間入りを果たすと、同年末のCOUNTDOWN JAPAN 09/10を皮切りに、今夏のROCK IN JAPAN FESTIVAL 2010やRUSH BALL 2010といった大型フェスへも次々と出演。その名はPUNKやEMOといったジャンルを超え、広くロック・ファンの元へと広まっていった。そして2010年12月、RADIOHEADと同じユーザーが自由に価格設定するという形態で、オフィシャル・サイトから配信限定発売されていた"8分越えの一大交響曲"「The Symphony」が、新曲2曲を追加したシングルとして、遂に全国流通される。配信発売のタイミングでは、ROCKIN'ON JAPANの巻頭の「scene」で取り上げられるなど、大きな話題を集めた同曲。無限のポテンシャルを秘めた名曲と共に、4人の次なるステージが、いま始まろうとしている・・・。
LOCAL SOUND STYLE is a Japanese EMO/Rock/Power-Pop band. Local Sound Style consists of Masahiro Araseki(Vo&Gt), Yusuke Goto(Gt), Takayuki Kurotaki(Ba) and Kosuke Saito(Dr), who all grew up in the same place, Hirosaki, Aomori, and was formed in 2oo4 when, by chance, all the members met in Tokyo after their high school graduation.
Their main musical influences are EMO bands like GET UP KIDS and JIMMY EAT WORLD, and Power-Pop bands like FOUNTAINS OF WAYNE and HOLIDAY WITH MAGGIE. Although this had become their musical foundation, they also absorbed the musical essence from Britpop like Oasis and Blur. Now they’ve got their own music filled with powerful, refreshing, and makes-you-feel-good sounds, which no one else but only LOCAL SOUND STYLE can play.
LOCAL SOUND STYLE released their very first self-titled EP "before daylight" in September, 2005. It was limited to be sold at the place they played or on the STM online website, but was very well received and reached 1 in the STM online JP chart. In March 2006, the same EP released in the US. This US version EP was reimported to Japan and won 1 hit of the year in the sales chart on the Indie-only website, 「indiesmusic.com」. LOCAL SOUND STYLE started getting people’s attention.
In April, 2007, LOCAL SOUND STYLE, who played with many top artists such as DAPHNE LOVES DERBY, DREAM STATE, HOLIDAY WITH MAGGIE, and WAKING ASHLNAD, finally released their first long-awaited full album “Doing It For The Kids” produced by Ed Rose, who previously produced big names such as THE GET UP KIDS and MOTION CITY SOUND TRACK. With this album, LOCAL SOUND STYLE went up to 60 in the
Japanese National Chart, and was ranked in 12 for the first week and 10 for the second week in the SOUNDSCAN Japanese Rock Chart. This resulted in an unexpected sales as a new comer and LOCAL SOUND STYLE show their power and unlimited possibility to the stagnant Japanese Indie Rock Scene.
