Local Licks started over 15 years ago as an experiment in Rock Radio. Sacramento had a very young scene. The band Tesla had hit the big time, bringing some recognition to Sacramento. Other bands like Cake, Far, deftones, Sedona, Vamp LeStat, Fat Bulldog 50, Atomic Circus, Wynch, and many, many, more were tearing up the scene in clubs like The Shire Road Pub, The Oasis Ballroom, The Cattle Club and more.

Local Licks picked up steam in 1994 with the release of Sacramento Rocks vol. 1. A compilation of some of the finest bands in town at the time. Putting their music onto a CD format for the very first time. (Before that time CD's were only available to signed bands)

15 Years later, we have released 12 Sac-Rocks CD's featuring bands like Papa Roach, Simon Says, Oleander, Die Trying, Seventh Standard, and that's just the bands that went on to have some major label success.

Continuing in that fashion, Local Licks is here to help the Sacramento Scene get some more exposure. Bands in Sacramento can use this sight to network with each other, gather to discuss local issues, and branch out to the rest of the country with it's talent and resources.

So if you would like to be the first to hear about the things 98 Rock's Local Licks can offer to it's scene, please sign up as a friend, and tell other bands about the site also.

Local Licks and Rock Inc. are teaming up to give one band a shot at reaching the next level in their career. Zac Deibels (Owner of Rock Inc.) asked me, Mark Gilmore ( host of Local Licks) to Solicit local bands to send in their best MP3, a short band BIO, a band Picture, and Contact information, to mgilmore@entercom.com.

ZRock (Zac) and I will pick one band who shows true potential. That band will receive studio time at Rock Inc. Enough to record TWO songs. Fully Produced, and Mixed by Rock Inc., and Mastered at Monsterlab. This is a opportunity worth more than $1000.

So, if you are in a band or a solo artist of any genre, and you are struggling to get a good recording, let Rock Inc. and Local Licks give you that extra push to the next level.
