LITWINENKO

Since leaving his homeland Austria, where he founded a Jazz/Funk band und often DJ'd (was a part of the so called Afro Cosmic Scene in Innsbruck and Italy in the 80s), Litwinenko began the German phase of his career in Berlin in 1998. Litwinenko was discovered by Kitty-yo and released records under the name „Preed". His first singles were on Timing Recordings and Kitty-yo, both Berlin labels. Tracks on Motor Music, Data Error, Modul 8, Tüftler, Musicpark and various Kitty-yo compilations followed. In 2007 he released a split-EP with Shitkatapult's Phon.o and a solo-EP on the Detroit based label Detroit Underground. As a DJ, Litwinenko has spun around the world in such famous clubs as Tresor, SO36, WMF, Maria am Ostbahnhof (all in Berlin), ElectroPlanet (NYC), 93 Feet East (London), Le Triptyque (Paris); also music festivals like Sonar (Barcelona), Benicassim (Valencia), Ososphere (Strasbourg), Amsterdam Dance Event, and various TV and radio appearances. His style is a strange mixture of obscure electronicafrowavesynthdubintergalacticdiscospacefunk.

Litwinenko's music is best described as a modern, electronic interpretation of Funk - dirty, raw, yet playful. He merges dirty cuts, raunchy breakbeats and rough funk music to create his very own unique cut-up Techno. His influences range from the original HipHop-Breakdance classics, some pioneers of electronic music, a special underground-club-scene in North Italy between 1980 and 1987 (Clubs: Typhoon, Cosmic), Afro, New Wave, ElectroDiscoFunk from the early eighties to Jazz and Black music in general.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
