Lisa Roxanne

Lisa Roxanne: Jamaican on her mother's side and Guyanese on her father's, Lisa Roxanne grew up in South London and the entertainment world beckoned from an early age. Her family background is immersed in music- her mother Trish Lewin is a professional singer who sang with the ground breaking 80's UK soul act Loose Ends while her father was a professional dancer and choreographer. The young Lisa loved to sing and dance and grew up listening to a diverse mixture of music that included soca, reggae, calypso, r&b, rap and pop. At just 11 years old Lisa won a competition in front of 6,000 people at the UK radio Choice FM's christmas party. It was here that she caught the attention of some producers who started working with her. While still only thirteen years old, Lisa was invited to a prestigious industry showcase for Destiny's Child. During the performance, Beyonce stopped mid song and paid Lisa the ultimate compliment of passing her the microphone to sing! Somone who believed there was every possibility that she could be a star was Chris Blackwell, the legendary entrepreneur and founder of Island Records. Lisa's talent and potential reminded him of another young female singer he had early on- Millie Small. Lisa signed a deal with Blackwell's Palm Pictures label in the face of stiff competition from other record companies.Lisa has also worked with Jamaican producers Sly & Robbie and Swedish writer/producers BAG aka Anders Bagge of Murlyn Music amongst others. In 2004 she recorded the theme song for (US) TV ONE's show 'Get The Hook UP'. She has continued to write further material with them in New York, then in 2005 a song she wrote called 'Call Me' was picked up and released but the Japanese superstar Double. Lisa has also done BV's for various different big artist. Lisa has worked hard throughout the year and says she's looking forward to bringing out a new album, so you can definately watch this space!!!

First of all. thanks for the love and support i've been receiving from you guyz so far!!!

I just wanted to say if there's any advice you need you can holla at me and i'll get back to ya!!

I have been away for long (I know) but trust me, ive been working hard on my music, songs you will probably never hear but still on the grind believe me, tryin to perfect my album, and at the same time tryin to do alot of growin up!!

I've mostly been writing songs for different artist, so my album kept gettin old before i finished it, but believeim so determined to get there, so you will hear a new album that im proud of!!

However i won't get far without you guyz love and support and encouragement, so thanks!!!
