C'est en 2006, à Rennes, que 6 musiciens influencés par toutes sortes de productions afro-américaines (funk, jazz ou nu soul), choisissent de mettre en commun leurs talents et leurs personnalités. Ils se retrouvent d'abord régulièrement pour des concerts improvisés au cours desquels ils invitent un MC anglophone. L'alchimie qui se dégage de ces sessions est immédiate et devant l'enthousiasme suscité par ce son jazz hip hop et le plaisir de le partager ensemble, ils fondent LIKE JAM.



Trouvant leur inspiration dans la musique d'OPUS AKOBEN, THE METRICS ou encore THE ROOTS, les 7 membres de LIKE JAM créent une musique nuancée, parfois amère, parfois sucrée, soutenant des textes à l'esprit aussi ironique que cynique.



Tout en continuant à développer son répertoire, le groupe fait quelques apparitions remarquées en 2007, notamment en organisant les « HIP HOP SESSIONS » à Rennes, concept où le combo joue les « backing band ». Remplaçant les platines pour se mettre au service de MC's et musiciens locaux, LIKE JAM trouve son public lors de ces jam sessions enflammées.



2008 marque un tournant avec la sortie du EP « Check This! » (GROOVE OFFICE – ZF PRODUCTIONS). Aujourd'hui, LIKE JAM propose un set original et rythmé, rempli de beats incisifs, empruntant au jazz ses couleurs et au funk son énergie.



It is in Rennes in 2006, that 6 musicians influenced by all sorts of afro American productions (funk, jazz, nu-soul), choose to join together their talents and personality. They start meeting for live impro shows during which they invite an English speaking MC. The alchemy resulting from these live sessions is immediate and confronted to the enthusiasm emerging from this new jazz hip hop sound, the communicative energy and the pleasure of sharing this together, they found LIKE JAM.



Finding their inspiration in OPUS AKOBEN, THE METRICS or even THE ROOTS music, the 7 members of LIKE JAM deliver a tinged music, sometimes bitter, other times sweet, underlining ironical and cynical minded lyrics.



Whilst developing their repertoire, the band makes some noticeable appearances in 2007, particularly by organising the HIP HOP SESSIONS in Rennes; a concept where the combo merges to a backing band. Replacing turntables and MPCs for the service of local MCs and musicians, LIKE JAM meets with its audience during these hot jam sessions.



2008 marks a new step with the release of the EP “Check This!” (GROOVE OFFICE – ZF PRODUCTIONS). Today, LIKE JAM proposes an original and well balanced live set, filled with cutting edge beats, borrowing from the jazz its colours and from the funk its energy.
