Lightning

LIGHTNING was born at the beginning of the 90's being part of an

important generation of extreme metal bands in the South of Spain like

Necrophiliac, Infestus or Spontaneous Combustion.



The band recorded their first demo-tape in 1992, entitled "Promo’92",

and one of the original members of the band, Mario Escobar (vocals)

left the band a soon later. After an intense searching inside the

southern Spanish underground scene a new vocalist was found in Carlos

Enriquez from the local metal band "Dimension".



The second demo tape called "Ever Bleeding Wound" and recorded in 1994

never got released due to the fact that the band suffered a robbery in

their practice room. Miguel Angel Gutierrez (bass player since 1991)

decides leave the band in those unlucky days. Manuel Orta (from the

local band Dimension) finally would be the substitute.



In 1996 the band recorded "Dark Ages", the third self produced demo

which obtained very good response and got to sell close to one thousand

copies all over the world. After the recording of "Dark Ages", from

1996 to 1999, LIGHTNING went through one of the most intense periods,

playing live shows and festivals dedicated to the underground and

extreme music scene in Spain and Portugal sharing the stage with bands

like Avulsed, Incantation, Wild Forest, Adramelech, Deeds of Flesh.



In 1999, Carlos Enríquez (vocalist since 1992) leaves the band and a

new man is recruited, Pedro Ruiz (member of the local hardcore band

Falso Dogma). With this new line-up LIGHTNING recorded "Thought

Decimation", the Mini CD in which the band found a suitable sound which

meant a new way to continue ascending and improving performance and

composition.



In the middle 2005, Pedro Ruiz (vocals) and Manuel Orta (bass) left the

band due to personal reasons. Carlos Enríquez join the band again and a

new bass player is found, Eduardo “Thedy” Benjumea (coming from the

Thrash Metal band Killem) in order to record the new CD entitled

“Filthy Human Beings” with help of the local producer Sergio James and

his Sound Farm Studios. Recently LIGHTNING has been signed by the

spanish Label Xtreem Music to guarantee the release of “Filthy Human

Beings” all over the World.
