My recollection is pretty hazy, but I think I have this in the right order: The idea for Life Is A Fight originally came about when I had first met Drew through a mutual friend. Upon learning that he, Jeff, and I weren't the only two people in the Northeast Georgia area who liked City of Caterpillar, I immediately wanted to start a band with him. Months later, Josh, Ajay, and myself had been practicing together with Corey Crowder (omg namedrop) for an indie rock project when I asked Ajay if he were interested in starting a "sexual emoviolence" band. He was down, and I contacted Drew about it as well. Winston was moving down to Athens and he was pretty excited about what would become "Love Potion Number Nine" - Ajay and Winston on guitar, myself on bass, and Drew on drums. Our first and only show was on Valentine's Day at the Chi-House where we repulsed pretty much everyone who was in the room with porno-style lyrics and hilarious stage antics. This was the greatest band to ever exist but I was in the mood to do something a bit more sincere. Josh had expressed interest in wanting to play with us, so he came in on guitar and Winston took over bass duties, leaving me on vocals. We wrote our first songs in a matter of months and settled on the name "Life Is A Fight" after much debate. Naturally, we played a lot at the Chi House and snuck in the venues every now and again. During that time, we managed to record a six-song demo.we had just learned "Judy Jetson" a week prior to it.in the living room of the Chi House. The demo was recorded by our friend Navid and mixed by our friend Mikey, and we were pleased with the way it sounded. I remember sending the demo out to some of the like-sounding labels out there in hopes they'd want to release something of ours in the future, but to no avail. Thankfully, we were getting some great feedback on it from a lot of folks and kids were still excited about coming to see us play. We continued to write songs in hopes of an official release, and in this time Winston had expressed his interest in leaving the band to focus on school and other musical outlets. Luckily, Navid was ready to step in and take on bass duties, and he fit with us really well. We played a couple more shows until Ajay made the journey north to pursue his Master's. As a final hurrah, we are going to release a full-length CD toward the end of the summer, and play one last show until it's officially over. Thank you all so much for your kind words and support.we love you.
