parkdrive launched their self-titled debut in August ‘05, with their first single “Sekedar Cerita”, immediately receiving a warm welcome from music lovers and the media alike. Never performing a single show prior to their release, five days after hitting the airwaves, parkdrive was instantly made MTV Exclusive Artist of August ‘05. Aside from receiving generous airplay on the network, “Sekedar Cerita” soon became a popular request and climbed the charts in leading national stations. Their second single “Kucoba” was released at the end of ’05, captivating their audiences yet again.

Made up of two Berklee College of Music graduates Rayendra Sunito and Juno Adhi, teamed with Mikuni Gani’s signature vocals, parkdrive’s fresh and new sound led them to collaborate with well known local musicians of the same movement such as Rieka Roeslan, Ali Akbar from The Groove, Philipe from The 6th Element, and Glen Fredly, both in the studio and in their live shows.

The band’s mix of jazz, pop, R&B, soul, funk and Brazilian rhythms has allowed their music to be accepted in a wide range of listeners, from high school and campus shows, corporate events, international shows (southeast Asia region), all the way up to prestigious jazz gatherings such as the Bali Jazz Festival ’05, Jazz Goes to Campus ’05, ’06 & ’07, JakJazz ’06 & ’07 and has been a regular host at the annual Java Jazz International Jazz Festival held since ’05.

Throughout their journey, parkdrive has not been without trials, some of which have brought significant changes to the band. In mid ’06, Mikuni Gani had to leave the band, in which time parkdrive kept performing by collaborating with different vocalists until they eventually worked with, and hit the chemistry with Olivia Latuputty, an up and coming jazz vocalist who became the official 3rd member.

By early ’07, the buzz they’ve created over their indie release had spiked interests from major labels for a national distribution deal, which led to the release of a repackage album. The album was added three new works on top of the previous ones; the new single “Biarkan” is a classic acid jazz tune that will showcases the band’s growth since their debut release, another is an acoustic rendition of the song “Di Atas Awan”, a bare arrangement that features Olive’s accomplished vocals, and the last addition, a club remix of their self-titled track “parkdrive” in collaboration with DeepSound Community (Adroitz Music). As history repeats itself, the new clip of “Biarkan” made parkdrive MTV Exclusive Artist of the Month, this time of August ’07.

Today, known as one of the pioneers in the scene’s acid jazz movement, parkdrive continues to push their musical limits by continuing to reinvent their works and performances, with a second album due in early ’09.
