Aside from inventing miracle whip and managing the 89' "bad boy" Pistons under the alias Chuck Daly, Frankie Bank$ has been residing in the far reaches of Detroit, drinking heavily and cultivating what can only be described as "a new dance phenomenon". Raised on the sounds of the motor city, artists like J Dilla, Kenny Dixon Jr., Cybotron, DJ Assault and Theo Parrish have all had major influences on Frankie's approach to music. After purchasing his first records from the legendary Detroit music spot, Submerge at age 16, Frankie began crafting the sound that you hear from him today; a unique blend of musical movements from around the world (baltimore club, electro, dubstep, ghettotech, disco, house etc.) tied together with a uniquely detroit aesthetic, the sexual prowess of Peter North and a blatant disregard for boundaries . From debauchery filled nights in Detroit's Eastern Market to some of the most infamous club nights in the country, Frankie has been bringing his sound out of the 313 and to the world. Whether it be the famed Hollywood Banana Split party with DJ AM & Steve Aoki, a sweat drenched dance floor at Spank Rock's weekly Jang House night in Philly, headlining Shepard Fairey's always packed Dance Right , or heating up the world renowned Do-Over party into what their blog called "a Detroit style bonfire", Frankie is consistently exceeding expectations. Between DJ dates spread across the country, Frankie is still a force in his own city, smashing the Detroit Electronic Music Festival two years in a row (08' & 09'), being invited to perform at the MOCAD ( The Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit) numerous times, and recently winning the "Best Detroit DJ" award (Real Detroit Weekly best of 09'). Recent production work has sparked the interest of Detroit's hip hop community and has led to collaborations with scene heavyweights Danny Brown (Fat Beats) & Nick Speed (G-Unit). Upcoming projects include the Party Time Cookin Mixtape, The Soft Gold E.P. (Exchange Bureau Records), and a full length album "Sand in the Suntan Lotion" that, according to the Metro Times, consists of "equally awesome and absurd rhyming dropped on top of in-your face, escalade-rattlling electro beats." Bank$ is also the man behind "Cake Thursdays", Detroit's largest indie dance party, and the night responsible for introducing acts like M.I.A, The Cool Kids, The Rub and Flosstradamus to the city. When Frankie is not making music you can find him drinking Milwaukee Ice at the Old Miami, party time cookin, reading Bukowski, eating bacon, or windsurfing.
