Donnie Darko est un power trio (fondé en 2005) dont la musique se situe entre les Beatles, les Stones, Téléphone et Radiohead. Matthieu est à la guitare et au chant, Thomas à la basse, Willo à la batterie.
Quand vous leur demandez s’ils ont un label, ils vous répondent « Label Rouge, élevé en plein air ! » et c’est vrai.
Comme tout groupe qui se respecte, c’est dans les bars que le trio s’est forgé. Après 2 années où ils ont multiplié les plans plus ou moins douteux, on les a mis dans un studio en leur disant : «Maintenant vous faites un album». Nous sommes en 2007. Ne sachant pas ce qu’étaient un studio et la façon de faire un disque, ils ont branché les micros, mis les potars à fond et ils ont joué leur musique en live. 11 titres et donc une première galette intitulée "On cherche encore" parce qu’ils n’ont pas encore trouvé le titre (les mauvaises langues vous diront qu’en fait c’est parce qu’ils n’ont pas cherché).
Après ça, ils ont fait une tournée de plus de 70 dates à travers la Normandie (et les alentours) pendant 1 an et demi. Retenons entre 2007 et 2008 un passage triomphal chez eux au Festival Halloblokos (Bayeux), la première partie de Daniel Darc au Cargö (Caen), une Fête Nationale devant plus de 3000 personnes (Bayeux encore) et la Foire Internationale de Caen en septembre 2008 où ils se sont définitivement fait une place sur une scène rock normande pourtant foisonnante.
Et puis ils ont disparu de la circulation… sans explications.
Avril 2009, le chanteur du groupe apprend par une fan que les Donnie ont splitté. Surpris et amusé il prend son téléphone dans la foulée : « Bon les gars, la semaine prochaine on entre en studio ». Résultat "Judy", un EP qui navigue entre pop planante et rock engagé et un 2ème album programmé pour 2010.
Entre temps, on leur a dit de se chercher un label et de sortir de leur région. Alors devinez quoi ? Ils cherchent un label… et ils sortent de leur région !

When you ask them if they have a label, they answer you " red, free-range label! " And it's true. As every bands which respects itself, it is in the bars that the trio built up itself. After 2 years when they multiplied the more or less doubtful plans, someone put them in a studio and say them: " now you make an album ". It was in 2007. They didn't know yet what was a studio and the way to make a disk, therefore they connected microphones, put potars profoundly and they played their music live. 11 titles and thus a first pancake entitled "On cherche encore" (it means in engliqh "we are still looking for") because they have not found the title yet (the gossips will say to you that in fact it is because they did not look).
After that, they went round more than 70 dates through Normandy (and the surroundings) during 1 and a half year. Let us retain between 2007 and 2008 a triumphant passage at home to the Festival Halloblokos ( Bayeux ), the Daniel Darc's first part in Cargö (Caen), a National holiday in front of more than 3000 persons (Bayeux still) and the International Fair of Caen in September 2008 when they were given way definitively on a nevertheless abundant Norman rock scene.
And then they disappeared from the circulation without explanations.
In April 2009, the singer of the band learnt by one fan whom the Donnie had separated. Surprised and amused, he took his telephone in the stride: "voucher the lads, next week we enter studio ". Result "Judy", an EP which navigates between planante pop and committed rock and a 2nd album scheduled for 2010.
Meanwhile, someone told them to look itself for a label and to go out of their region. Then guess what? They are looking for a label and they are going out of their region!
