Who is LIMA:

Leeds Improvised Music Association – LIMA - comprises performing and composing musicians, promoters, educators and a visual artist/designer based in Leeds, West Yorkshire. In 2005, after years of working alongside each other to reach the same aims, they cleverly decided to unite their creative and ambitious forces by forming a stronger and more organized foundation so that they with larger influence could work towards gaining more extensive and serious focus on improvisation-based music in the city and the surrounding areas, as well as developing and bettering the general conditions for the thriving scene of brilliant, explorative music that exists there.

LIMA’s music:

The LIMA bands and projects include a wide and original range of constellations and formats, acoustic as well as electro acoustic, and stretches from various solo projects to large ensembles such as the LIMA Orchestra. The sound of LIMA is a diverse blend of styles and expressions where no musical course is banned: It can briefly be described as music where improvisation, creative interaction and contemporary composition are the main features.

Before you send LIMA a message on Myspace, please read this as it may be of help:

Sadly we're not so efficient with keeping track of this LIMA myspace site as everyone's kind of busy and also have their own sites to keep updated, but we always keep our "official" website: http://www.limaonline.org.uk updated.

If there is anything specific you are after or want to share with us we would recommend you to get in touch with the individual LIMA member directly.

We primarily work as a DIY unit, so we don't have resources to promote "non-lima" acts unless we are collaborating with such groups. In regards to venues etc, if you are looking to find such in Leeds in connection with touring activities or similar, our best tip is to check out our "official" website www.limaonline.org.uk or the individual member's myspace site/website to see which ones we are using and get in touch with them directly.

Hope this is of help.
