Last Ditch Effort

Last Ditch Effort formed in 2002 in Thousand Oaks, California. The project started as a garage band, comprised of James Kibbe (guitar), Ryan Kibbe (drums), Kevin Ibarra (Guitar) and Darryn Lyon (Bass). For about a year and a half this band played without a permanent singer and did not progress out of the garage.
Soon thereafter, Kunal Dovedy joined the band to handle bass duties, with Darryn leaving for the Navy. Dan Berrard also signed on for vocals. Gigs were played and the band started to conceive its own identity.
Another major event that led to the band’s current form was the departing of Kevin Ibarra and Dan Berrard in late 2005. LDE made a few calls and found an excellent rhythm guitarist, AJ Burden. In addition, a call was made to Adam Hardie, a vocalist and friend of the band. He was more than happy to do vocals.
Stylistically, the band has adopted a modern heavy metal feel in lieu of sounding like thrash metal bands from the 80’s. This is mostly due to the lineup changes mentioned above.
The band’s songwriting has evolved to incorporate every band member’s musical ideas. Because of this focused energy, the band has been able to improve on its craft and sound tighter than ever before. Last Ditch Effort is a relentless well-oiled machine…and they’re always getting better.
It’s only the beginning…
