Those words are spoken by many artists, but few actually exude them. Latice Crawford is one of the few. Born into a family of ministers, singers and performers, the artist known as REDD has been wowing audiences over the last 18 years with her beautiful voice and songs of inspiration. Her slight build personifies her blessing. Her blessing creates memories that last beyond the sound of her voice.
Growing up as the middle child of the family, Ms. Crawford absorbed almost everything that she touched. Getting her start by singing in her cousin’s choir (David Dove and Eternal Life), her background is rich with stories that connect the spiritual and secular world, as growing up in New York City provided the creativity that she now uses as her landscape. Her church, Grace Memorial Community Outreach, has long witnessed REDD’s talent. Under the guiding hands of her father, Pastor Arnett Crawford, and another extraordinary singer, her mother – Sharon Crawford, Latice could be found singing Praise and Worship on Sunday mornings. A well-rounded artist, REDD writes her own music, designs her own fashions, styles her own look, and defines her own sound.
Quick to let everyone know that music chose her, her anointing is the characteristic that most people gravitate towards. Her loud personality is shown through her dramatic hair changes, clothes, sense of humor and most noticeably, her voice. As she always says, “I don’t sing, I testify to a beat!”.

This can be seen as recently as one of the episodes of BET’s Sunday Best competition. Wowing the judges, crowds and viewers, Latice Crawford has been one of the most recognized and talented singers on what is being described as the best competition to date.
