Who are we???

Have you ever come to the conclusion that there was no more good hip hop coming out and that the old school rap tunes were the business? And what’s the deal with having to pay a fortune for your music in HMV, Virgin or some other similar store, bearing in mind that the artist is getting peanuts out of that hard earned cash that you just blowed on his CD!

Well Last Round Records is here to help you! Our view is that there is a lot more quality artists innovating and bringing new ideas, styles and flavours to the game today, they just aren’t getting the support and exposure that they deserve off all the mainstream promoters and record labels.

Last Round has been digging the underground for you to find these activists that are bringing the freshness to the game, and that not just in one country, Last Round has artists representing it in France, England, the USA, Spain and even Iceland! And the list is expanding fast!

When you hear or see Last Round, think quality, when you hear or see Last Round, know you won’t be paying some exorbitant price for your music that’s going to contribute to some “already rich” business man’s new Porsche or Ferrari… And also remember you’ll be putting your money directly into the artist’s pocket for him to keep on bringing you the quality music that your ears deserve!

Peace!

The Last Round Team

DJOE THE ARCHITECT

DJoe started off in the music game with entrepreneurial ambitions right from the offset, getting together local french rap MCs to form Creative Town Crew (CTC) & subsequently release their debut mixtape in 2002, which received much critical acclaim on the local scale… He joined the association Acropole the same year, a large hip hop collective comprising of l’Akad & Apey-Bwoy (his bro) amongst others… doing live shows from Spain threw France all the way to Germany, where he got some precious training session off DJ Khalid (6th place in the DMC world championships in 2000) By then he had already been making his own instrumentals for a while for the many hungry MCs in his entourage. Several years down the line, plenty practise in his pockets & with plenty international link ups came the fruit of the work in the form of DJoe’s debut LP “Sound Architecture” featuring notorious MCs & singers from the US, France & his native UK. Today, DJoe is currently working on producing some tunes for Zor Denning and Sons Of South among other artists.

STARVIN B

In a music business that revolves around jewelry, sex-ploitation and senseless violence, Starvin B is a breath of fresh air. The 23 yr. Old N.Y. native has always made sure that his music comes across as creative and original. If you’re looking for media hungry, processed rap, you will not find that here. Starvin B’s style is a form of poetry that conveys his own street smarts and experience. What makes Starvin stand out is his choice of vocabulary, content and a flow that makes any Hip hop head nod. His songs range from socially conscious to humorous storytelling to lyrical melees screaming for the world's respect

L'AKAD

French underground group l’Akad has been present for over 10 years in the Rap scene and has been dropping many highly rated tracks throughout the years on various compilations and albums in France as well as in the rest of Europe. Their socially conscious rap has grabbed the ears of many with their particular way of telling stories and bringing to front line a lot of untold and forgotten facts in history books and the news.

Their highly anticipated debut EP will be coming to you late 2007, be ready, and check back for some exclusives and previews soon…

SESAR A

2001 he released the first rap record entirely in Icelandic, "The Storm in the wake of the calm". The year after came his second album "DoItYourself" and the first rap compilation entirely in Icelandic "Rímnamín".

This triggered an explosion in rap in Iceland and after him came numerous groups that rapped only in Icelandic.

The last few years Sesar A has studied film direction in Barcelona. There he has made music and performed in a lot of concert with IFS (www.ifscrew.com), his group there.

He produced and arranged the groups first record “Worldwide”, which was released recently. It features all 9 members of IFS , coming from 8 different countries, rapping and singing in up to 10 different languages.

WATCH OUT for the 3rd coming album, "TOO GOOD" coming soon

SONS OF SOUTH

December 2009. The end of a decade that has seen X-Factor’s grinning puppet master Simon Cowell turn the UK’s prime time TV slots and record industry into a production line for churning out soulless pop androids. Across the pond rappers are releasing their own sports drinks and video games, as the next ‘cookie-cut’ baller appears on the scene to rap about the same tired topics.

For fans of fresh sounding beats, interesting concepts and charismatic MC’s the outlook has been bleak. that is until now.

Sons of South, a collective of four MC’s, their DJ and beat maker (all from the Southern half of the UK – hence the name), have been bubbling under the surface, perfecting their craft since 2005 and now release the long awaited third installment in their mixtape series – ‘All Eyes on the South Volume 3 – Real Name No Gimmicks’.

Drawing on influences from the golden eras of East and West coast Hip Hop from the States and jungle, garage and grime from the UK, the four MC’s – Blaze, Naturekid, Prophecy and Verbal Remedy combine over a myriad of beats to deliver a flowing and consistently listenable 60 minutes of entertainment.

With each track the group demonstrate their versatility, as the four MC's combine effortlessly over various tempos and styles that have been laid down for them by the group's producer Terrorist and other beat makers from within the scene. All of the music is original, bucking the trend of the traditional mixtape format. Mixing duties are handled with flair and finesse by DJoe The Archiect, who took time out from his busy beat making, producing and DJing schedule between France and Spain to work with Sons of South on the project.

With ‘Real Name No Gimmicks’ available to buy from iTunes and other download sites to kick off 2010 and CD’s appearing in all good independent record stores at around the same time, Sons of South are looking to hit the roads of the South, West, North and East of the UK in the coming months. Look out for this innovative Hip Hop crew at a venue near you.
