LAST CHANCE FOR SURRENDER

In the spring of 2006, Robert Cullen and Alex Bonwick crossed paths, and began to jam together night after night getting the feel for each others styles. Shortly there after the hunt was on to complete the band. Andrew Zammit was introduced into the fold on the sticks, Matt Brockwell on voice, and Tavish Newman on bass. Thus was the birth of Last Chance for Surrender.

Now with five members, L.C.f.S. was ready to rock for anybody that was willing to listen. They played their first show at the Foundation Night Club at a Supernova Battle of the bands, headlined by Summer Hero (Universal). Everything went amazingly well (won the people’s choice award) considering the band had only been together for just shy of a month.

The band continued to play show after show playing wherever and whenever they could. They also began winning more and more people’s choice awards for the Battles they were playing.

After roughly six months Matt decided that the style of music was not really what he was looking for, and Tavish had far to much of a busy life to keep up with the kind of rigorous practice schedule they needed to maintain. After audition after audition, it became evident that there was not anybody that they would be happy with, so Rob expanded his horizon as the guitar player/screamer and took over lead vox; and Steve Maxwell was added to the band on the bass guitar.

The band played many shows over the next few months as a four piece. It wasn’t long though before Steve also decided that the kind of time needed to put into a band was not available to him, he being extremely involved in many athletic activities and having a job that demanded much of his time.

At this point L.C.F.S was left without a bass player and had to resort to fill in’s for a few shows (both Jay and Paul filled in on bass before officially joining the band). It had been decided that it was time to recruit another guitar player so that Rob could concentrate solely on his front-man position of the band. A few guitar players were experimented with but it seemed like finding the right mix between chemistry and talent was going to be difficult to find.

Then an amazing thing happened, Andrews best friend Paul Tonk’s quit two other bands he had been playing with and after swearing he wouldn’t play in bands anymore, decided to join L.C.f.S. This was a perfect match because he is an extremely talented player and was already good friends with the band. Simultaneously, a new bass player was added, Jason Petrolia a.k.a. PATRONE. Patrone has managed to at one point or another play every instrument in this band (except vox).

Last Chance for Surrender has evolved over the last year and a half from an idea into a living, breathing entity. They now have found a diverse sound that they call their own and in July of 2007 recorded their DEBUT EP at Emac Studios in London, Ontario. The Ep, entitled “Giving up has never been so easy,” was released at the end of September at a Release show at the Collingwood Curling Club headlined by Shotgun Rules of London, Ontario, as well as The Surface from Oshawa, Ontario.

Keep your eyes on Last Chance for Surrender as they drive forward playing their music for anyone that is willing to hear it.
