Las Chicas Del Can is the most famous merengue- lady orchestra from Santo Domingo, Dominican republic.



It was set up in 1982, and booked especially in the eighties very much large hits. Numbers such as ell Negro No Puede, Sukaina, Culeca, Ta'Pillao, Fuego, at Lo Doy, Amigo Travieso belongs now to the klassiekers of the merengue music. Gouden and platinum singles and albums was the consequence. Leadzangeres Belkis Concepcion went in 1985, solo. Anderelead singers Miriam Cruz (the uncrowned queen of the Merengue) and Eunice Betances got vocal support of among other things Luchy Betances (little sister of) and veronica medina which went for its part also solo.



As from 1993 the orchestra goes further under the name Miriam y read Chicas. Of this formatie year still the same a successful album comes from entitled Nueva Vida with on this by Juan luis Guerra hit written at Propongo. Also the number drawer Loba becomes a hit and has been very pleased at merengueliefhebbers. A European tournee follows year still the same. In 1994, still a large hit is scored with the number Con Agua the Sal. In 1995, a new European tournee follows which goes successfully very.



Meanwhile becomes by a manager who ' read the name already Chicas Del Can ' rapidly a number of new little girls would have let fix at each other gezocht who would make furore also under this name.
