Shiminga Niyumka Forney a.k.a Lady Femmefatal or Shiminga Niyumka the model! What can I say…I am a female rapper, model, and aspiring actress born April 17, 1984, and raised predominantly in Detroit, Michigan east 7 mile area. I spent one year in Denver, Colorado, moved back to Detroit, and later to Harperwoods, Mi where I finished my junior and senior years of high school at Grosse Pointe North, yes a rich white school, and proud! I attended some college courses at Macomb Community College towards Crime Lab Technician, and studied a little French there as well, I love languages and am currently learning to speak Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, and soon Japanese. I have within me some important characteristics needed in an artist, I am diverse and versatile when it comes to my song writing, I'm honest, hardworking and head strong, as well as outgoing and fun. I have been writing and rapping since I was about 11 years old, and I owe that to my brother David Gogins, or Raw Num. He pretty much introduced me to the idea of rapping! Not only rapping but the idea of being an artist. I used to rap and write with him upon request when we were younger, I saw his passion for it and what rapping was about all through him! I always loved writing poems and stories as a youngster, but he helped to take that to the next level. I never in a million years thought it would be something that would develop into a true passion, and I never thought I would perform in front of an audience, and record in a studio either, because I always considered myself shy, but I did despite that! My passion and understanding for the art of rapping, and music in general grew from watching and learning from him, after he moved away, he encouraged me to keep writing and to begin producing tracks, and behold Lady Femmefatal! Though I have been writing for a while, in 2006 I finally got enough guts to go to the studio and start layin' tracks, and it's absolutely fun, and it can be frustrating at times, because I am a perfectionist, but I love it, if it was up to me I'd be there everyday getting better and better. I know what I want and will go back over a song as many times as it takes till it sounds the way I, or the producer envisioned it, so I advice artist to think twice before collaborating with me, we may be a while!
A lot of people ask how I got my name, I first saw the name Femme Fatale in the dictionary when I was like 13 years old! Instantly I knew it was the name for me! Its definition in social life- the femme fatale tortures her lover in an asymmetrical relationship, denying confirmation of her affection. She usually drives him to the point of obsession and exhaustion so that he is incapable of making rational decisions. Yep thats melol On some real shit though.my rap name is the best way to describe me the first half Femme is the feminine, fresh, loveable, sexy, and classy side of me. I'm always a lady no matter what, rap will never change that! The second half of my name describes the hood, hardcore, outspoken, mean, and real side of me and my music. Put those two together and you got me all in one nice little package!! I have personalities that you may not be able to handle, but what can I say, I am an Aries!! My start in the music game was somewhat easy thanks to the help of Truth a.k.a Trufie or Start N Line Ent., and John Blakk of Lites Out Ent., I knew them for a while and they both invested beats, and studio time in me to get me started, with some helpful critism, and occasional critiquing, I was getting better and better with each session, and developing into a true artist. I continue to primarily focus on delivery, versatility, and my stage performance, I feel these are the most important things to master right now as an artist in general! I want an audience that can handle versatility and do without labels, when someone ask, "hey what's Femmefatal's style"? I want the response to be, "she does it all"! My ultimate goal is to be so diverse, different, and multi-talented that I can't be fit into one category or box! I don't want to be labeled as only hardcore, or sex kitten, or hip hop, I should be known as all of the above and more!
I have done shows in many local bars in suburban and local Detroit areas, such as; TNT's, Suite100, Biggs, New Way Bar, Rendezvous, Alvin's, Simons, The Future Gallery, 8-mile Run, and C-Notes! In addition to my music, I love modeling too, and hope to someday be in respectable known Magazines and fashion shows across the world, but one step at a time, my true and first passion is music! Besides music and modeling, I find myself interested in acting too, and I have been submitting to casting calls and auditioning for roles to get my acting career started! I also enjoy graphic design, web design, and whatever else that allows me to express my creativity and get money! Getting' money is my only option, and I must say I have it in my blood naturally to get it in and take over, as I am the niece of well known Detroit drug lords(Billy, Larry, Willie, and Otis Chambers) collectively known as "The Chambers Brothers", or the "The Chambers Gang", although I'm not proud of how they came to fame, I can say it's that get money attitude that got them to see millions, and in a completely opposite way, I hope to do the same some day! They moved to Detroit from Arkansas seeking financial opportunities as most did in this era, and later began to gross in one week more than Chrysler did in a year! I mean they had to base a movie off these guys (New Jack City), and they were featured on one of "BET'S ORIGINAL GANGSTA's" episodes. So needless to say, I won't be stopping no time soon, I am a go getter, with the support of my friends, family, and haters, and I am not going to be satisfied or happy until something like the whole world knows my name! Lady Femmefatal, that "Chambers Girl"!
