Kurzes Update:
LACUNA wurden 2001 zum VISIONS Newcomer gekürt, 2002 entstand ihr in der Presse vielbeachtetes Debutalbum „and the frog says.“ mit Produzent Guido Lucas (Union Youth, Blackmail, Harmful) und die Band spielte u.a. auf der Main Stage des Bizarre Festival.
„and the frog says.“ erschien 2005 dann in einer modifizierten Version (incl. des EP-Hits „Fault Finder“ (u.a. VISIONS All Areas Track)) auch in Großbritannien. Unter anderem gab es tolle Reviews/Features in KERRANG, im englischen METAL HAMMER (incl. Samplerbeitrag „Valvoline“) und sogar der Daily Star (!) bedachte die Band mit einer Albumbesprechung.
Nach dem Zweitling „nuée ardente“ und der Überbrückungs-EP „rotosphere“ erscheint nun endlich das mit Kurt Ebelhäuser (u.a. DONOTS, BLACKMAIL, HARMFUL, LONG DISTANCE CALLING) produzierte und über LACUNAs UK Label mayberecords in London von Richard Kayvan (u.a. BELASCO) gemasterte

Die Vorgänger-EP und ihr Debüt 'And The Frog Says' waren schon von unerwarteter Professionalität, doch mit 'Nuée Ardente' ist es Lacuna gelungen, sich nicht nur weiter von deutlich hörbaren Einflüssen wie (na klar) Kyuss/Queens Of The Stone Age oder Tool zu lösen und mehr zu ihrem eigenen Stil zu finden, sondern die Songs kommen auch flüssiger und harmonischer, ohne an Härte zu verlieren. Abwechslungsreiches, raffiniertes Songwriting, mit unterhaltsam ironischen Elementen und besonders markantem Ausnahme-Organ von Sänger Marko Bach. Hervorragende Platte, ohne Scheiß. Uncle Sallys
"Nuee Ardente", ein wahrliches Kraftpaket des Alternative Rock und ein fast perfektes Deckelchen nach ersehnten Veröffentlichungen von Queens of the Stone Age, Nine Inch Nails und System of a Down. Lacuna sind eine durch und durch geniale Band, die ordentlich nach vorne brettern, und von einer Stimme getragen werden, die so eigentlich gar nicht mehr besser geht. Southspace

Da sehen andere Kollegen aus der Abteilung Alternativerock nur noch den aufgewirbelten Staub. Neben dem Desertflair mit schwerer Gitarrenkante zeigen LACUNA vielseitige Einflüsse, die die bis ins kleinste Detail ausarrangierte Musik interessant ergänzen. Das treibende "Three kings islands" klingt so, wie ich mir die den Minimalismus entdeckenden SYSTEM OF A DOWN vorstelle. Der Sound von "Nuée Ardente" kommt auch aus schäbigen Boxen noch fett. Auf einem Gerüst aus Tempiwechseln und einem Gesang, der eher gegen den Strom des Songs schwimmt als mit ihm, provozieren sie sogar Vergleiche zu den großartigen System Of A Down. Das von Guido Lucas soundtechnisch nahezu perfekt in Szene gesetzte Werk schafft den Spagat zwischen fast schon klassischen Rock-Tunes und intensiven Noisepop-Krachern. Lacuna empfehlen sich mit dieser Platte als ernstzunehmende Konkurrenz für Bands wie Blackmail, indem sie das Wagnis eingehen, langsam aber beständig an einer eigenen Identität zu feilen und damit den Verlockungen des Zeitgeistes zu widerstehen.Von dieser Band dürfte man in naher Zukunft allerdings noch einiges hören. .servieren die Saarbrücker Newcomer erfrischend vielschichtigen Alternative-Rock, der wahlweise mit Pop-Appeal kokettiert, Grunge-Wehmut aufkommen lässt, in die Wüste zum Kiffen fährt, von dort über psychodelische Umwege zurückkehrt, es noisy krachen lässt oder sogar mit progressiven Einschüben überrascht. LACUNA:
formed in early 1998, LACUNA first released the ep „non-reflecting“ (1999). the band toured heavily and subsequently came to the attention of producer guido lucas (who produced their eponymous second ep in December 2000)
throughout this time the band were starting to garner critical acclaim across germany – including picking up vision’s magazine’s newcomer 2001 award, securing a slot on the legendary bizarre festival and touring with the likes of emil bulls, mother tongue and sun.
in april 2002, the first full length cd „and the frog says…“ was recorded in a week, once again in the blubox studios (blackmail, harmful.) with legendary producer guido lucas. In 2003, “and the frog says…” was released in germany, switzerland and austria on meisterbetrieb/alive ag distribution. in the UK “and the frog says…” was released through maybe records on the 31st january 2005. maybe records is a new independent rock label distributed in the UK through shellshock/pinnacle (sub pop, meshuggah, minus, defenstration).
after building a substantial live reputation , LACUNA will release their follow-up record NUEE ARDENTE in Germany on july 4th, 2005
