Rocko

Anyone who thinks that todays rap artists have lost the true essence of keeping the message in the music need only listen to Allen Browns new BORN AGAIN CD for a taste of something deeper. This new release by Rocko has set the stage for future artists to come. Its the beginning of a new era! Rocko has taken lyrical skills to another horizon with his singles BORN AGAIN, MY LIFE and COVER ME which all can be found on this new CD.



What makes this artist so unique is that at the age of 18 he was stripped away from friends and family for 12 years of incarceration. During that time Rocko managed to overcome the ills and destructions of ANGOLA prison by staying focused on his musical vision. In 1998 he started the group L.A.B. from behind the prison walls; their music was performed at the 2002 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. Also, he was a member of the prestigious Angola Drama Club, spear headed by Gary Tyler. This program provided him and avenue to become a voice for the fallen and forgotten.



While behind the cold, hard prison walls Rocko gained the attention from Moxie Firecracker Films, a film agency from New York. Moxie Firecracker Films was producing a documentary on Music Behind the Bars for HBO. According to Liz Garbus, the director and overseer of the Music Behind The Bars documentary, stated that Rockos music really blew us away. Its so soulful with a deep spiritual essence.



Since, being released in the Spring of 2004, he has been pounding the streets with slammin underground tunes. His music has made its way into the homes and cars of many people that are tired of the spoken norm in rap music and crave for the next level. This new release Born Again showcases his phenomenal skills as a rapper, writer and music producer.



Born Again is for anyone who has suffered at the hands of oppression and for the spiritually dead that need to be resurrected, says Rocko. Im trying to give the world something to grow on because I overstand that life and death is in the power of the tongue so I bring the message and the language that the people can relate to.
