"He's a bit of a head scratcher in many ways. His live shows are solo with him playing guitar and channeling the guitar through a wall of effects. His songs are usually quite desperate and his arrangements have big spaces in them like they're gulping for air. He basically comes out and destroys the place and people generally stand in front of him when he plays and yell back his lyrics to him, which is even stranger when you consider that they're yelling back lyrics to songs that haven't been recorded yet.

His CDs are about as opposite as everything I've described. He usually records with everything EXCEPT a guitar and builds his arrangements on musique concrete. He told me his favorite thing to do is to go around his house and record the hum from the refrigerator and other things and build songs on top of them."
