Heineken, Van Gogh, Kraak & Smaak. The three most famous things to come out of Holland. Ever. In that order. Ok so maybe a bit of an exaggeration but the last couple of years have been an incredible ride for the Dutch producers trio and as djs and band.
Since releasing their debut album Boogie Angst they have played over 300 live band and dj gigs. Hailed by I-DJ as a “Must see live band”, they’ve supported the stadium-rocking Faithless on their European tour and played some of the most prestigious gigs in the USA including Coachella Festival, SXSW Festival, the Miami Winter Music Conference as well as playing headline sell-out gigs on the West and East Coast on their last tour. In the UK, the boys have rocked shows for Club nights like AIR, Fingerlickin’ and Chew The Fat, Breakspoll and the Glastonbury, Bloom, Lovebox and Big Chill festivals. Other European shows up until now have included Pinkpop, Dance Velley, Sziget, Lowlands and 10 days Off.
Two albums - 'Boogie Angst' (2005) and 'Plastic People' (2008) - and a remix compilation in 2007 ('The Remix Sessions') have firmly put K&S on the world's dance music map. They have been supported by the cream of BBC jocks Annie Nightingale, Annie Mac, Pete Tong and Rob Da Bank and in the USA by KCRW's Jason Bentley. And a string of remix requests have led to reworkings of Jamiroquai, Maxwell, Junkie XL, Sam Sparro, and Richard Dorfmeister a.o.
The single Squeeze Me feat. Ben Westbeech was a top 5 hit in Holland, resulted in 50k+ downloads in the USA and received plenty of airplay across the world. The music video, with its flipbook theme, was picked up by the famous LA blogger Perez Hilton, who proclaimed K&S to be “one of the hottest groups around” and described the music as “Amy Winehouse meets Moby”.
Currently they guys are working on fresh new club singles and a full album, planned for release during 2010.
