Kinzli and the Kilowatts are a collective of musicians and friends who have garnered a small but dedicated following, performing their unique brand of genre-busting 'geek folk' across a variety of small venues and arts festivals in the UK. Their second album 'Down Up Down' was released via their independent label 'Polkadot Records' in 2010 and has seen airplay by the likes of BBC6Music, Radio 2 and MTV Italy. Like the best songwriters, Kinzli's poetic, socially-conscious lyrics draw from her own life experience – growing up as an orphan in South Korea, later moving to Tennessee and finally to London. A bad case of Tuberculosis at a young age only seemed to strengthen her resolve to become a singer. Despite still not being able to sing as powerfully as she'd like Kinzli, crafted her own style of performing: a mixture of song and spoken word which has been compared to Joni Mitchell in delivery and is anything but lacking in energy. Kinzli's specialty is her ability to unite a wide range of folk genres into something simultaneously joyful, thought-provoking, witty and able to be appreciated on many levels. The band are looking forward to a mini-tour to (banjo player) Michael's hometown of Cork, Ireland and the surrounding area.
