"Kingsdown" is the evolutionary brainchild of five small-town friends sharing a heart for people and music. By 2003 the group had settled on a name, rounded out a core group of members and began to perform live in nearby Batesville, AR and other towns in Arkansas. A century old Arkansas train station became their experimental base where various styles and sounds were rigorously tested. Small crowds soon grew into packed houses, and "The Depot" became a place where lifelong friendships were born, joy was rampant, and people were impacted for the better.
The band recorded multiple EPs, each with an entirely new sound, evidence of a band searching to find their voice. In 2006, Dwain Roark-vocals, James Watts and Johnny Rocket-guitar, Aaron Elms-bass and Blain Roark-drums relocated to Little Rock, AR and continued to tour and play bigger regional shows.
Backed by LOVE, faith, and hope, lyrics are born from the perspective of a love for God, life, travels, and people. "A large part of our inspiration comes from great times had with friends . and many beautiful mornings, days, and nights spent with people we love. That is a side of God people forget to talk about." says lead singer Dwain Roark.
In 2010 the band signed with LD Glover & Dennis Stone. With some 40 years' experience working, recording and touring with bands, the new managers worked with Kingsdown and inspired them into recording their first full length CD released June 2010 to a sellout crowd in Little Rock, AR. This self-titled debut was produced by Grammy nominated, Travis Wyrick, and has been described as, "a rousing blast of high-energy rock n roll." The band is at their best while performing on stage, capturing crowds with the type of passionate and high-energy entertainment that can make a person feel like dancing and forgetting the worries of life. Soon Kingsdown will be coming to your town and we invite you to come see what rock and roll is all about. Have you loved someone today?
