Based in Dallas, TX, Ashoka was named for the Indian emperor known for his benevolence and lasting moral edicts, King has always had a larger-than-life image to live up to. But with each album he appears to do just that and is quickly emerging as a natural leader and teacher. Through his deliberate yet intellectual approach to life – and art – coupled with the universal respect he shows to everyone in his presence, Ashoka truly embodies the spirit of a legendary king.
King Ashoka has performed with numerous heavyweights in the music industry including: Cypress Hill, Craig Mack, Eazy E, Smif & Wesson, Kwame, Grand Puba and the Brand Nubians, DMX, Ludacris, Nivea, Donell Jones, Mystikal, Jagged Edge, Ginuwine, Public Announcement, and Jaheim. He most recently performed with Erykah Badu in Dallas Texas, George Clinton in Dallas and Austin, and SXSW in Austin in 2009.
