You may remember seeing me on Idols in 2003. I finished in the Top 12 out of 124000 contestants. After Idols, I completed my BA in Communications degree. Born in KwaZulu-Natal and raised in Mafikeng in the North West Province. I grew up singing from an early age inspired by the likes of Whitney Houston, Toni Braxton and Mariah Carey.

During high school I competed in the Eistedfords and won many gold and silver medals. I also joined the school choir but stopped singing for a while when I started studying at university. Well after Idols and just when I was completing my degree I received a record deal offer from Thrym Records CEO , Rishad Dookoo.

Rishad also wrote and produced (in collaboration with other producers) all 14 of these beautiful songs on the Unspoken album. The album and song-writing quality has been getting amazing reviews such as the MIO (Music Industry Online) that scored my album 10/10. I'm very excited to start performing live as I love to interact with the audience and feel powered when I'm on stage.

I'm looking forward to the release of this album as fans has been asking for it now, however I still have a few more things and few more nice surprises that I need to take of before we release the album or any song.

SA Songstress Gets International Recording Deal
March 14, 2007 - 3:28 PM

South Africa's Khwezi Kekana is set for stardom, having recently signed with international record label, Bootcamp Records.

When negotiating with the CEO of Bootcamp for this deal, I had no idea that he would respond with such immediate effect and enthusiasm. Duly impressed with what we had to offer, the official word from Bootcamp Records was that each and every song featured on Unspoken was a potential number 1 hit.

Khwezi has really done our label proud, I've always believed that she was destined for greatness and now its finally happening.

Born in KwaZulu-Natal and raised in Mafikeng in the North West Province, Kekana [22] was inspired by the likes of Whitney Houston, Toni Braxton and Mariah Carey and began her singing career at an early age. Whilst still attending high school and part of the school choir, she competed in the Eistedfords and won many gold and silver medals.

In 2003, Kekana entered the music variety and reality based television show, Idols. Competing against 120 000 contestants, she was placed in the Top 12 finalists! Having competed in Idols and completed her BA Degree in Communications, Khwezi was offered a record deal from locally based record label, Thrym Records.

I'm looking forward to the release of this album, it has really been a long time coming! There are a few final touches and one or two surprises that need to be taken care of before the album is released but it has been a great pleasure to work with Thrym Records on Unspoken and to associated with Bootcamp Records.

An independent label based in Pretoria, Honey Moon Entertainment was founded by CEO Rishad Dookoo. The label specialises in R&B, Hip/Hop and Adult Contemporary music. The label has collaborated with Bootcamp Records [USA] on Khwezi's debut album Unspoken, expected for release later this year; Khwezi makes history as being the first Idols contestant in South Africa to get signed to an international label.

Unspoken will be the first album to be released by Honey Moon Entertainment, with each of the 12 tracks written and executively produced by Rishad Dookoo. South Africas top-rated vocal coach , Malie Kelly worked with Kekana on the project, which boasts catchy R&B urban tunes as well as Adult contemporary ballads. .

Bootcamp Records will be responsible for Unspoken's marketing campaign, using the same production company that initially promoted American singer, Christina Aguilera.
