Kentaro Sato (1981-), Ken-P to his friends, is a Los Angeles/Tokyo-based award-winning composer/conductor/orchestrator. His symphonic works have been featured in TV/Film media, game industry and concert performing groups around the world including the Philharmonia Orchestra of London and the Moravian Philharmonic in the Czech Republic.
In the choral music world, Sato is best known as the winner of the 2005 Raymond W. Brock Memorial Composition Contest. The winning work “Kyrie” was premiered at the 2005 American Choral Directors Association National Convention by the Northridge Singers conducted by Paul Smith and the composer himself. His choral works continue to gain popularity especially in the academic and community choirs in the US and Japan. Additionally, in 2005 he was appointed as a resident composer/assistant conductor of the Torrance Symphony, and continues to provide rich cultural experiences to the residents of City of Torrance, California.
Sato was born in Hamamatsu Japan, where is known as the city of music and instrument. He grew up in a music-loving family and began playing an electric organ at the age of 5 and began his serious musical training at the age of 15, demonstrating talent in music composition and technology.
Sato holds a Master of Music in Conducting with Distinction and a Bachelor of Music in Media Writing from California State University, Northridge. In addition to his music degrees, he also holds degree in Cinema from Santa Monica College.
