The Cornerstone Emcee to Academy Entertainment, Kayyce Closed. A solid veteran in the Underground scene, Kayyce Closed has the credentials to back up every vicious punch line that comes out of his mouth. This Detroit native appeared on the first album to come out of Detroit, to coin use of the 313 area code, and consistently attended Maurice Malone’s famed Hip Hop shop the same time emcees like Eminem, Proof (RIP), Elzhi, T3, Jay Dee (RIP) and many others. He did this under the alias K.C.E, which eventually extended into Kayyce Closed. “The Name Kayyce Closed came from me going to rap battles and deciding if I can win all the battles I entered, I’m Ill, Case Closed.” Eventually relocating to Windsor, Kayyce Closed found himself battling emcees at Windsor’s notorious hip hop spot, Club Extreme, where he was a consecutive champion for nine straight months. Still untouched locally through battle competition, Kayyce Closed entered the Pass the Mic Battle Championship’s, and won 3 times over, undefeated.
Over time, the name Kayyce Closed has become as solid locally as the streets we walk on, winning battles since the moment he stepped into the city. Kayyce Closed is not only a battle emcee though, and some people actually confuse this. Kayyce Closed has also appeared on many album projects & mix tapes, including 5 Academy Mix tapes, J Reno’s “Ground : Zero” & “Unleashed”, as well as Krimson’s “Let it Be” and many others. Kayyce Closed is also known to devastate the crowd live, as he has opened for artists such as Scarface, The Luniz, Bone Thugs & Harmony, Obie Trice, Royce Da 5’9”, Tone Tone, Choclair & Many others. Kayyce Closed has also been nominated for many awards through the Dj Needle 9:14 Awards, winning the best lyricist in 2005 & 2006, as voted by Windsor Hip Hop fans & artists alike.
