Finding a spot in an already crowded music scene is no mean feat but that is exactly what folk songwriter Kate Westall is aiming to do with the release of her debut E.P. 'Belated'.
In a journey of a singing career that already spans more than a decade, Welsh girl Kate has honed her talents and muses through writing, performing and recording across a range of media. Stamps in her musical passport range from the spectacular to the possibly amusing, and both her backing vocals at the 2011 Royal Wedding private party and performance on The Alan Titchmarsh Show may one day end up on a 'before they were famous' blooper reel.
Kate's less unusual but nonetheless formative experiences include touring as a backing vocalist for Ellie Goulding in the height of her 2010 BRITS Critic's Choice Award spotlight, composing a contemporary sound score in New York for dance company Ajose-Cutting Dance, touring with legendary British producer Trevor Horn for his ventures both old and new, performing at both Ronnie Scott's and the Royal Opera house, and co-writing the title track for the RADA short-film Strange New World.
However for Kate all roads have led to the release of her own material, being the full reflection of her musical inspiration in the diverse likes of John Martyn, Stevie Wonder, Joni Mitchell, Feist and Fleetwood Mac, and many years already on the road. Belated is a debut that will be worth looking out for.
