This page is a TRIBUTE to Alisha's Attic

Hailing from Dagenham in Essex, sisters Karen & Shelly Poole formed one of the nineties' most interesting and underappreciated pop acts.

Debuting in 1996 with their catchy hit single I Am, I Feel, Alisha's Attic were a breath of fresh air to British music, combining catchy melodies with charming vocals and offbeat lyrics. Their first album, 1996's Alisha Rules The World is a minor masterpiece of offbeat pop: 13 light and airy songs about love, hurt and phone sex hotlines. Meanwhile, B-sides provided a veritable cache of unheard gems, showcasing the edgier side of their bittersweet music.

Illumina (1998) ushered in a new, more grown-up sound, whilst retaining the duo's kooky charm. With short, sweet, experimental songs such as Me & The Dolphins, the Poole sisters continued to produce intelligent, likeable indie pop. The album ended on a serene note, with the sublime Outta These Clouds exemplifying the beauty of Alisha's Attic's vocal style.

In 2001, the critically-lauded The House We Built signalled the final album by the duo. Another collection of thoughtful, sweet-sounding modern love songs, it sadly did not recieve the recognition it merited. Since, the sisters have ceased to record under the name Alisha's Attic, preferring to pursue their own individual projects. Karen is a professional songwriter, who has worked with the likes of Kylie Minogue and Alex Parks, while Shelly has embarked on a solo music career.

Although the era of Alisha's Attic has come to an end, one thing can be certain: for those who have discovered their music, they remain a source of inspiration and pleasure. Alisha may not have come to rule the world, but that doesn't mean she's gone unnoticed.
