Karen Verresen

BIOGRAFIE
Karen Verresen won op zeventienjarige leeftijd de Baccara Beker, een nationale wedstrijd voor jong muzikaal talent.
Als zangeres in het pop en jazz genre stond ze reeds op verscheidene festivalpodia waaronder de Gentse Feesten, de Lokerse Feesten en Suikerrock. Met de formatie 'MauN' bracht ze in 2006 een single uit onder het label Alleycats.
Haar eigen nummers werden gebruikt in theatervoorstellingen. Ze schreef ook mee aan Cd's voor anderen.
In 2006 behaalde ze haar Master in de communicatiewetenschappen aan de K.U.Leuven. Na het succesvol beëindigen van de specialisatieopleiding e-communicatie ging ze aan het werk als webdesigner/grafisch ontwerper:

In oktober 2007 werd ze als enige Belgische - samen met 12 anderen wereldwijd -geselecteerd voor de eindronde van de 'International jazz singers Competition'.
Ze schreef reeds enkele nummers met Raph Schillebeeckx waarvan 'The moon knows best' (in co-write met Bruce RF Smith) zal verschijnen op het debuutalbum van Eline De Munck in 2009.
Ze werkt momenteel volop aan eigen songs (Baby Beluga).

BIOGRAPHY



Karen Verresen sings and plays the piano.
In 2000 she won a belgian national singing contest 'the baccara beker'.
Her songs were used by other musicians and also appeared in theater.
A first single of the formation 'Maun' was released in the summer of 2006: 'Introducing MauN' (label Alleycats). The band split up in the beginning of 2007.
She did the backing vocals on the most recent Nona Mez-album, 'Out of Touch'.
In addition, she received her Master's in Media Studies at the Catholic university of Leuven. Since then she works as a webdesigner/graphic designer:

In octobre 2007 she represented Belgium in the 'International Young Jazz singers competition'.
She wrote several songs with Raph Schillebeeckx of which 'The moon knows best' (in co-write with Bruce RF Smith) will be released on the debut album of Idol runner-up Eline De Munck (Belgium) in 2009.
