Born on March 8th, 1985 in the rough city of Newark, NJ, Kalil Kash never would have thought he’d become an MC until the age of 18. Before then he’d grown up listening and loving the music of Nas, Jay-Z, Notorious B.I.G., Mase (Harlem World Mase), and of course Tupac. In fact, it was the hit record by Nas, “If I Ruled The World,” that sparked his overall interest and love of hip-hop.

Kash continued to listen to many different forms of rap music as a casual fan, until one day, out of boredom, he decided to pick up a pen and write raps himself. It was a friend of his introduced him to a rap battle website, where he wrote his first verse (being a diss verse). After a few weeks he records his first audio track (also a diss record), then a few months later he puts together his first full song called “Hater’s Fallback,” over Raekwon’s “Knowledge God” instrumental. The rest, as most people say, is history.

As of now, Kash is on the seemingly endless struggle to be heard as an MC, a struggle shared by millions of rappers worldwide. Yet, he believes that he brings a sound and competitive edge that very few rappers bring to the table these days. But no need for him to brag, the music speaks for itself.
