I am half Greek and half English and grew up in Greece, Crete, where my musical influences first came from. I currently live in London where I work teaching and performing music of the Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East. I work as a musician for various organisations providing music for hospitals, hospices, prisons etc such as Live Music Now, The Council for Music in Hospitals and Vital Arts. I teach flute, nay and singing privately and am also involved in introducing Middle Eastern music into London schools through workshops (Barbican Center, Leighton House). I also do session work such as playing for film scores and documentaries (BBC, ABC).
My studies include a BA in Ethnomusicology at the School of Oriental and African Studies, (University of London) and an MA in Dance Anthropology at Roehampton University.
I also have a Diploma in Flute Performance from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music and a 1st level Diploma in Jazz Flute from Athenaeum Conservatoire in Greece. My teachers where primarily: Wissam Boustany (International Soloist) and Nickos Nickopoulos (Greek National Opera House). In search for a more 'world music' sound for the flute, I later discovered the Arabic Nay which is now my main instrument, and studied under the guidance of Louai Alhenawi, Omer Erdogdular, and Mohammed Antar.
I have also had the opportunity to study various vocal traditions from across the world such as: Iraqi song (Anouar Abudragh, Ehsan Emam), Classical Arabic song (Abdusalam Kheir), Hungarian song (Marta Sebestyen) and Afghan Song (Hussein Arman).
