We received over 200 amazing song submissions for our first CD. The selection process was terrifically difficult for our panelists, and we thank everyone who submitted work. We ask those who did not make the final selection to please continue to be involved in our mission and the JMP. You are all winners! Many of you have already asked to join in benefit concerts, and we welcome the opportunity to try to connect venues with musicians to help us all. We hope to be able to produce another CD next year and will keep everyone updated on concerts, promotions and future calls for submissions.

We want to thank our 2006 JMP panelists:

Paul Farahvar, President of Shoeshine Boy Productions

Bruce Finkelman, Owner of the Empty Bottle

Sam Hunt, Co-Founder/Co-Editor of Dusted Magazine

Jessica Linker, Owner/President of Pitch Perfect PR

Bettina Richards, Owner/President of Thrill Jockey Records

Billy Shand, The Windish Agency, LLC

Although the panel was not asked to make any preference for genre or geographic location, we did receive more local submissions and indie rock and folk genres, and this is reflected in the final line-up. Id like to briefly describe the judging process. We sent each panelist a packet of CDs with submitted songs, bands in alphabetical order, and a scorecard to rank the submissions. Each panelist scored the songs individually. The panelists sent us back their scorecards and we aggregated the scores to select the final songs.

Do not hesitate to reach us with questions, suggestions, or just to chat! Lisa, Jason, and I thank you all so much for your fantastic support!!
