When emotions reach extreme, you can smoke a cigarette, drink beer, start an argument, or share the resulting good experiences. I do those things, but most of the time I play on the swings for hours or write to feel relieved. When I finish a good poem it is more exciting than anything. It is so euphoric, you feel so high that nothing can compare. I think that the same way a poem relieves me, it can similarly impact others. When I write, I try to be sincere and express my emotions as well as sketch a set of values and priorities. What drives me is an urgent need to understand, to get to the depth of the matter.
