Julia Gottlieb

Julia has always loved to sing. She grew up in the Berkshire Hills of Western Massachusetts surrounded by many different styles of music. She has always been eclectic in her tastes. Her early loves were Bach, Satie, Chopin, Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Chet Baker, and Billie Holiday.
She doesn't remember ever learning to read and write music, it has been a part of her life from early childhood. Piano lessons led naturally to voice lessons and finally a degree from the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. There she expanded upon her love for Latin American and world music and began to sing in different languages -Portuguese, Spanish and Italian.
Julia performed regularly with a guitar trio featuring Gilad Hekselman (guitar) or alternately Keith Ganz (guitar), Assaf Hakimi (bass), and Dan Aran (drums) and toured extensively with a hot jazz/bluegrass/western swing band, The Blue Ribbon Boys. Most recently she has made the move cross country to Los Angeles, California where she is performing and recording with a rotating cast of musicians including Larry Koonse (guitar), Kevin Axt (bass), Rich Eames (piano), Ray Brinker (drums) and Grahm Dechter (guitar) to name a few.
Julia sees making music as a continuous adventure and always looks forward to learning new musical styles and playing with whatever unusual and wonderful musicians she meets on her journey.
