Imagine standing in line at a fast food restaurant and you ask yourself… “Where have I seen this face before?” Or maybe you’ve been around someone that leaves you with an impression almost like the “LITTLE BROTHER YOU NEVER HAD?”

J-Trx (born Justin D. Echols) on March 20, 1986 is a Gary, Indiana based record producer, entertainer, and songwriter. In 2002, J-Trx changed the face of his city and was given the opportunity to begin his quest for success when he performed for the International “Miss USA Pageant”. This was the first event to ever bring his city international exposure since Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5. In addition to him singing for the pageant this marked his introduction into the music industry by being introduced to Meechie (former RCA recording artist) who then took him under her wing and began J-Trx on ride to greatness. After touring with International “Miss USA Pageant” J-Trx landed his first recording deal with Stepping Stone Ent.

In 2005 J-Trx found himself in Mobile, Alabama working with many local artists and establishing his independent work around the country as a sought out up and coming songwriting producer. While steadily working on singles for artists such as Hittman from DMP Records, C-nile, Maja and Cojack and many other Mobile artists, Trx still felt a sense of more! He was introduced to lifelong friend and past manager Lafip, where the two relocated to Atlanta, Georgia to embark on the road to riches. Not one week into their arrival J-Trx found himself working with Purple Ribbon A&R’s (G GLEEZY and London.) embarking on a new found friendship Gleezy showed Trx the ropes of the industry business and marketing side while also introducing him to many key figures in the music industry. In 2006 J-Trx began working with gospel artist Euclid Gray who starred in (Tyler Perry’s Mad Black Woman); this led to J-Trx working with (Stellar Award Nominee) Terri Carrol. Working on her album he was able to show his musical abilities and go back to his roots.

In 2007 J-Trx signed with Shakehouse Productions working with label mate “The Young Gunna” (Warner Bro Recording artist Jody Breeze), where J-Trx got sight of his first placement. The K. Smith and Omarion record called “Better Man”, which brought rave reviews and of course more work. Everyone seemed to be looking for better music than they had and came to J-Trx to remake their hits into classic songs. Later J-Trx went on to work on projects for artists such as Keke Palmer, E DUBB, Erica Badu, Adero, Phsycho Drama, Triple Darkness, Thugged Out, Mutt Dogg, (dirty game records), Block Entertainment,Def Jam, Recognition and so many other talented innovators of music.

In 2008 J-Trx appeared in a feature film called “Beats 4 Sale” starring Swizz Beats, Jazze Phae, Brian Michael Cox, Ski Beats, Dre & Vidal, and Don Cannoon. This film showcased the life of a producer on the grind doing everything other signed producers do to get his foot in the industry. This was a big step for J-Trx resulting in an offer from Konvict Music.

Trx’s signature sound has always been in his ability to be different, to incorporate his classical beginnings such as high energy arrangements or what he likes to consider something like a “phantom of the opera sound” a timeless piece of art which could only be followed and adored by all who hear his music. He quotes and definitely stands by what he often says “To no limits and beyond.”
