Between organising his Clique parties at the likes of O2 Academy and Stinkys Peephouse (home to the infamous Back to Basics), and releasing on labels such as Assembly Records, Excentric and Rekluse, Belfast born-and-bred Jordan McCuaig is undeniably one of the most exciting young DJs of the moment.
As well as continued support from Radio One, since being one of the youngest artists to ever perform a live set on the station in 2006, and sharing stages with the likes of electronic powerhouses Pendulum, Sebastien Léger and Octave One, as well as some of the most prominent underground DJs on the UK scene such as Fergie, Radio Slave, Gary Beck (Minus/Soma) and Ryan Elliott (Berghain) in recent gigs, there is certainly a lot more to come from the 20 year old from the reputably thriving musical backdrop of Belfast.
Now based in the similarly nocturnal Leeds, Jordan's enthusiastic personality and mammoth hunger for a party are the rocket fuel behind his blistering DJ sets, the likes of which have been delivered in Leeds' venues such as Wire, Kerbcrawler and Stinky's Peephouse, as well as the Custard Factory in Birmingham, embracing the ears of clubbers with his unique sound with a fiery enthusiasm rarely seen in DJ's these days.
Despite his eminence within the UK, Jordan is, however certainly no stranger to the world stage. Playing sets in the likes of Ibizan superclub Eden and Lithuania's 'Exit', doing so with the aplomb of a musician twice his age. He has also pulled the strings of fervent dance floors in The Cross in London, and even Dublin's Fairyhouse Racecourse and Belfast's Kings Hall, all impressively serving as notches on his young belt. Alongside this, regular jaunts to Newcastle, Glasgow and Derry sit comfortably alongside regular visits back to Belfast to the likes of The Stiff Kitten and Yello where Jordan has recently graced the stage. Add to this multiple clubland awards and an endlist list of TV and magazine support by industry gospel Mixmag and I-DJ, and even BBC, who followed Jordan on his mainstage performance at Irish festival Planet Love for a fly-on-the wall documentary and we're looking at a particularly full-on schedule!
Jordan's own Clique events got off to a blistering start at Leeds' O2 Academy with Gary Beck from Minus as headliner, outlining Jordan's desire to push forward thinking dancefloor house techno, whilst his releases on Excentric and Rekluse have turned the heads of the likes of Karotte, Slam and even chart-toppers Groove Armada and Dave Spoon. Further Clique events with the likes of the Berghain's Ryan Elliott and Oslo Records' Nekes have continued the supply of antics for Leeds' ever up-for-it crowds.
